Boxing for fitness

Nothing like being able to punch your cares away at the end of a busy week. This has been my regular Saturday morning routine for seven and a half years! It started accidentally when Camille suggested we find an exercise class while our sons did ballroom dancing lessons. Boys no longer do the dancing but we still do the boxing. Mending The Environment

Last year I led a "visible mending" workshop to show participants how to use embroidery stitches to mend moth eaten knitted garments. Greyhound Mum

I have a rescue greyhound so I wasn’t surprised that the mural artist for the renovated Coles in South Perth chose to feature a greyhound in their artwork. They are great dogs, and great pets.

Contrary to popular thought, they don’t need a lot of exercise. They are built for sprinting and as long as they get out at least once a day for a walk and a sniff, they are usually content to laze around the rest of the day. Accordingly, they actually make great pets for unit and apartment dwellers. You don’t need a big backyard to have a greyhound as they would much rather be on your couch than outside! “Lazy” seems such a pejorative word so let’s say that they are “relaxed” dogs - very calm, like a bit of attention but mostly content just to lie about.

If you are looking to add a dog to your family or your home, please ask me any questions about greyhounds and hopefully I can convince you to adopt one.

Introduction

I'm running as a candidate for the Como Ward in the upcoming City of South Perth byelection. By way of introduction, here's my family, photographed last November by the great local family photographer Anthea K Photography.

My husband is a lawyer with the Australian Navy (yes, just like Mark McGowan used to be!) and my sons have been students at South Perth Primary School and Wesley College.

My dog's name is Jenie. She's a rescue greyhound.
